Berkeley County was established in 1682 as one of the three original land grants to the Lord's Proprietors in Carolinas. It is the largest county in the state.
The area is rich in natural resources and attracts many businesses and industry. It is also well known for it's hunting and fishing and often considered a "sportsman's paradise" With everything Berkeley County has to offer it is no surprise that is one of the two fastest growing counties in the state.
The county seat is Moncks Corner, other towns of note include Daniel Island, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Ladson, Summerville and Wando.
